Camden Fixing Factory - Repair Cafe

We're on a mission to restore repair to the heart of our communities We turned a derelict high street shop unit into a social community hub for repair, maintenance and restoration - we have well equipped electronics benches, and a mission to get local hands fixing. Friends of Highgate Library

Highgate Library Civic & Cultural Centre's monthly Tuesday evening lectures are always fascinating and can serve as a meeting place if you attend in person. They have returned to the newly refurbished children's corner in Croftdown Road, NW5 1HB - see their next event here: FOHL Events Page.


Gospel Oak Living Room

Organised by RCK - Refugee Community Kitchen - the Gospel Oak Living Room is a wonderful local resource providing meeting spaces with meals six days a week - Mondays 4-7pm at Bacton Tower TRA (Tenants & Residents Association), Haverstock Road, NW5 4PU, Tuesdays 11.30am-4pm at Cooperation Town Hub, Wendling Estate balcony level, Haverstock Road, NW5 4RA, Wednesdays 10am-12pm at St Martin's Church, Vicars Road, NW5 4NN, and 2-6pm at Cooperation Town Hub, Thursdays 10am-2pm at Wendling TRA, 117 Wellesley Road, NW5 4PA - Fridays 2-6pm at Ludham and Waxham TRA, NW5 4QF, and Saturdays 11am-2pm also at Bacton Tower TRA, Haverstock Rd, NW5 4PU.


Heath Hands

A Conservation and Community project, Heath Hands helps conserve 350 hectares of unique green spaces. They work across Hampstead Heath, Highgate Wood, Keats House and the Kenwood Estate delivering a wide range of volunteering, community, education and outdoor nature related programmes. Kentish Town Connects

Organised by Josef, Sharon and Hannah, KTC supports a wide range of local activities and helped to launch River of Hope in October 2024, covering the theme 'How can we winter well?'. We received a full report of their initial Open Meeting on 11th September 2024 and meetings have continued on a regular basis since then. Their next Open Meetings are on Thursday 15th May, 10-11.30am (arrive from 9.30am for networking) and Monday 7th July 6-7.30pm (arrive from 5.30pm for networking): For details click HERE.


Lauderdale House

Lauderdale House is at the top of Waterlow Park, hosts a drop-in cafe and runs regular events including art shows, concerts, performances and recitals - classical, jazz, folk, opera, contemporary - as well as music lessons, workshops and classes for both adults and children. Nature Connections Walks - with Transition Kentish Town

Featuring informed discussion on the environment, meditation and poetry sharing, these are organised by Transition Kentish Town (TKT), usually meeting at the entrance to Hampstead Heath by Bistro Laz: N6 6JS. Recent ones were held on Saturday 29th June, Friday 20th September, Sunday 17th November 2024, and Saturday 14th December 2024. The next one is to be held from 10.30am to 12noon on Saturday 22nd March 2025.


Retrofit Kentish Town

This is a sub-group of TKT, focusing on Retrofit in the Kentish Town area, recognising the urgent need to reduce Greenhouse Gas emissions to help slow climate breakdown and reduce fuel bills. It aims to encourage, educate and enable people to start retrofit projects on their homes and businesses, and to this end they are holding regular workshops to share information about installing insulation and low carbon heating technologies to reduce energy use. They also aim to offer individual support and guidance.
Save Energy: Keep Warm was a two-part series of workshops exploring how to cut our energy use whilst staying warm. The first 6-week series was held on Wednesdays in Sept 2024. A second series, coordinated by Mike Jenn, ran on Wednesdays in Nov & Dec 1924, also on a drop-in basis in the Kentish Town Library Sharing Space. Forthcoming workshops on Camden Council policies will be held on 25th March and 10th April - see details & venues in the March 2025 TKT Newsletter.


Think and Do Camden

A lively offshoot from TKT, Camden Think & Do has the vision to grow a community ecosystem that is resilient, and responsive to climate, environmental and social injustice by co-designing and implementing creative solutions to needs identified at a local level, with partners ranging from residents and local councils to schools, businesses, and the whole community. Transition Kentish Town (TKT)

Transition Towns are an international movement, sponsoring local voluntary action, both campaigning and practical, in support of the environment and climate emergency. Their September newsletter included details of the York Rise Street Party on Sunday 8th September, which was opened by Ed Milliband. Their October Newsletter featured: Autumn bulb planting around Kentish Town, the Saving Energy Keeping Warm weekly Retrofit Workshopsat Kentish Town Library, and the Nature Connections Autumn Ramble on Sunday 17th November. Voluntary Action Camden

This is a network connecting up a wide range of voluntary sector organisations in Camden. They offer training sessions and funding advice. They also advertise Forthcoming Events, and link to newsletters of many groups. The October 11th VAC Newsletter includes a link to a major report on State of the Voluntary and Community Sector in Camden, which is of interest, even though our own organisation, and those above, are not mentioned.
